Elevator Action Upgrade Hitting Arcades In 2009

Taito’s classic 1983 arcade coin-op, Elevator Action, is getting a high-tech makeover for re-release in 2009. (Which means late to mid-never for the American arcade market.) The game has a new name, Elevator Action: Death Parade to go with a new game mechanic.
Gamers will use light guns to take out onscreen targets instead of the old joystick-and-button platformer. Elevator doors will come into play, opening up at a push of a button to reveal the 50-inch plasma screen and, no doubt, some guys in black hats. Check out a shot of the new cabinet after the jump.
