EA Announces DLC Touch Ups For Dead Space

deadspace EA Announces DLC Touch Ups For Dead Space
Dead Space has been on shelves for less than a month and EA is already throwing some new DLC packs at gamers…for a price. Today EA announced 13 new content bundles (the number includes two exclusive content packs for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions). The upgrades include cosmetic fixes like flame jobs for main character Isaac Clarke’s armor as well as some heavier weapons. When it comes to the new and improved guns and blammo, it begs the question, why didn’t EA ship it with unlockable content instead of squeezing a couple of bucks out of their consumers a month later? Without any online modes to lord over other players or peacock the exclusive armor sets, the DLC content might be a hard sell. Even if it only costs two to four bucks. Check out the full line up of downloads after the jump.

You’re pushing it.’ And I just said, ‘Yeah, we’re pushing it.” Go get some, Glen! Read the rest of this entry »

By now you’ve heard of EA’s play into the horror-survival genre–the one that doesn’t involve a hostile takeover bid of Take-Two. We’re talking about their upcoming title, Dead Space. Players will assume the role of Isaac Clarke, a space mechanic sent to a distant solar system to find a mining ship, the USG Ishimura, that’s gone missing. As we have already noted, space travel generally ends very poorly unless you’re William Shatner.

The guys at EA Los Angles, executive producer Glen Schofield in particular, have made effort to scare the shit out of you. We caught up with Schofield to talk about putting the fear into gamers, “strategic dismemberment” and his own neuroses. Hit the jump for the interview.

Dead Space Reinforces The Notion That Interstellar Travel Usually Ends Poorly

dedspace Dead Space Reinforces The Notion That Interstellar Travel Usually Ends Poorly
When EA rolled out the latest trailer for Dead Space it quickly reminded us of something we already knew: don’t stray from planet earth. If pop culture serves as a realistic guide for the horrors lurking outside the atmosphere (and for the sake of this post, it does), there just ain’t no good reason to go. For every Tricia Helfer or anonymous blue-skinned chick that Capt. Kirk used to bang, you run across ten times as many flesh eating bugs. Thus, we turn to five flicks that say: stay the fuck out of space.
