Digital Playground’s hottest adult film star, Stoya, burned up the Internet a few weeks ago when footage of her giving a new Xbox 360 rumble massage peripheral on G4TV surfaced. Now in Australia for the Adultex XXX Trade Show, the 22-year-old porn starlet has set the porn industry on fire with movies like Nurses, Stoya Heat and Deeper 11 — all available on Blu-ray Disc for your PlayStation 3. Stoya took some time to talk exclusively to DasGamer about her love of gadgets, which Digital Playground co-stars are hooked on World of Warcraft, and why a gaming “nerd” is “her kind of guy.” Check out her G4 video here, her movies are available at Digital Playground, and if you’re really obsessed with Stoya’s world, she keeps up on Twitter.
What videogames did you play back in the day?
I never really got into videogames (defined as something that uses a game console and a TV), although there was a brief infatuation with PlayStation’s Chrono Trigger. I started with some kind of Bearenstein Bears learn-to-read game booted from DOS. Mostly, I liked Heroes of Might & Magic and Sid Meier’s Colonization and Civilization — emphasis on Sid Meier because I feel Civilization really went downhill once he was no longer involved with it. I hear there’s a new Colonization in the works with Meier back at the helm, but probably shouldn’t get too interested in it because those sorts of games tend to eat up large amounts of my time and there’s this pesky work thing that takes priority.
What was the first videogame that really got you addicted and what was it about that game that hooked you?
Civilization. It made chess make sense. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy conquering small and then large nations?
Who do you think the sexiest videogame vixen is and why?
Really, the games I like playing didn’t have vixens in them, and I feel like doing a five-minute Google image search to pick a hot vixen for the purpose of this interview would be cheating.
What do you think the game industry could do to attract more girl gamers?
I think the real issue is generalization of girls by the gaming industry. If a chick likes blowing the heads off of invading CGI troops or playing heavy strategy games, she’s going to be into the stuff that’s already out there. If she doesn’t, no amount of bunnies and hearts is going to change that fact. As far as what would attract girly girls to video games, I’m so out of touch with the shopping mall and pony set that I’m really not the person to ask.
What gadgets are you using these days?
Well, right now I’m typing this on a MacBook Air (the old style spinning hard drive model, not the new static drive one), considering turning on my G1 phone to check for messages but avoiding it because I don’t know how much it’ll cost me to receive data to my phone in Australia and wondering how many times my Blackberry Curve has gone off at home (the Google phone rocks, but the Blackberry gets better service in the subway and is a bit more stable). The Blackberry is sitting next to my dual phone line-enabled Bluetooth headset next to my bed.
How often do you get a new phone?
Usually I upgrade every two years. The technology doesn’t change quickly enough that I feel I’m missing something by waiting, and I’m pretty good at not dropping my phones or leaving them in damp places so they’re still in fine shape when it’s upgrade time.
What do you look for in new technology?
New :) I look for features that are so mind bogglingly awesome and instantly make my life so much easier that it’s like they fell out of a William Gibson novel.
What do you think of what they’re doing with games on gadgets like iPhone or iPod Touch today?
Maybe my thumbs are getting old, but it’s hard enough for me to navigate my music library on an iPod, much less play games on the same interface.
The latest Grand Theft Auto expansion, The Lost and Damned, introduced full frontal nudity of a male character. Given the type of negative media attention that still surrounds games, do you ever see sex and nudity becoming a regular part of games like they are in television and movies today?
Really? The gaming industry gets negative attention from media too? They’re just anti-fun, aren’t they? Aside from current events I try to stay away from mainstream media, actually. They can be such wet blankets. I think they play up the doom and gloom for ratings. Regarding sex and nudity becoming a regular part of games, I’m sure there’s already plenty of it, and unless it’s integral to the plot don’t see what the push for it is anyway. Do the people that make games really want to constantly be rendering genital folds and pubic hair? From what I remember of life drawing, genitals are the most difficult part of the human body to get right.
We have an idea of how popular videogames are in Hollywood in trailers and on set. What role, if any, do videogames play on a porn shoot? Who are the big gamers you know in the industry?
Mostly on a porn shoot we’re reading the script and practicing lines. Ok, or we’re shamelessly flirting with each other. Also on the set of a professional company like Digital Playground there isn’t much down time. As far as big gamers in the industry, Mia Rose and Christian are both known for their love of World of Warcraft, and Justine Joli is known for her love of all things tech.
As someone who loves tech, what was it like to be around CES this past January and did you get a chance to check out any of the new gadgets? What did you like?
It was actually really frustrating. The adult entertainment expo is the busiest week of the year for me, so knowing that there’s all this awesome consumer electronic stuff going on in the next room and having no time to check any of it out is sheer torture.
Were you surprised out how “hot” that G4 technology video with the Xbox 360 Rumble Massage was and that it exploded online?
Although it’s kind of odd to be the occasional focus of it, I’m never surprised at how quickly a given video, article or meme can take off on the internet. As far as having a sense of how many gamers make up my fan base, I know I end up talking to a lot of gamers and tech nerds on various social networking sites, and otherwise leave the numbers and percentages up to Digital’s marketing and sales teams.
Do you have a sense of how many gamers make up your fan base and what are your thoughts about gamers?
Thoughts about gamers? I love them. In my experience they tend to prefer staying in and doing nerdy things to running around at clubs worrying about how they look and what people’s impressions of them are, and can hold a mentally stimulating conversation. Precisely my type of guy.

Chrono Trigger was never released on the PS2. Only the PS1, Snes and more recently the DS.

Wow are you guys serious??! hahaha, this is to the fat kid… First off, no one would probably date your fat ass because, A. You’re a fat ass, and B. you are probably an “overweight neckbeard man-child” yourself. LOL. Who would want to date that any way. Just because you’re a nerd does not mean you have a stereotypical physique. You can have a love for games and gadgets and be a normal, albeit a nerdy guy.
