street-fighter-ii-remix Hands On With Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
During Capcom’s press event at Le Parker Meridien Hotel yesterday we got some hands on time with the upcoming Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. There were four playable characters: Ryu, Ken, DeeJay and Akuma. The 1080p graphics looked fantastic on an HD flatscreen and the Hori six-button arcade sticks gave the set-up an arcade feel. But, at least when it comes to the peripherals, that won’t be enough for Capcom. During our hands on time they mentioned an official six-button joystick in the works. They said the stick would run somewhere in the $125 range and hit around the same time as the game’s release. It seems like an expensive peripheral to throw out with a game that will cost a couple hundred Microsoft points. Then again, there’s always Street Fighter IV right around the corner.

As the game is a digital download for Xbox 360 and PS3, Capcom is at the mercy of Microsoft and Sony when it comes to hard release dates but the game should hit sometime in the Fall. Xbox 360 owners with a Gold Xbox Live subscription can get an early taste for a price. By downloading another Capcom DLC title, Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, Xbox 360 gamers will become eligible to participate in the beta test for Street Fighter which starts June 25th. It will feature one level with Ken and Ryu as playable characters. Whether you can wait or not is up to you, but after our brief hands-on time the game is definitely shaping up as a bestseller on the DLC circuit.
