Namco Capitalizes On Chance To Sell Missing Jedi In Soulcalibur IV To Gamers
October 24, 2008
When Soulcalibur IV released earlier this year the hi-def console versions came with one exclusive character. PS3 owners got Darth Vader while the Xbox 360’s default green color scheme earned its owners Yoda. Now gamers can buy Darth and Yoda for the equivalent of five bucks on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace.
Yoshinori Ono, producer on Street Fighter IV already stated in an interview that he doesn’t believe in DLC characters in order to keep a level playing field. Cliff Bleszisnski makes the valid argument, or at least the comment, that game publishers have to find new ways to sell their existing content in order to keep ahead of the competition. At the end of the day if you want to fire up the red or green light saber, five bucks doesn’t represent a significant hurdle. But do you think Soulcalibur fans should have to pay for that extra character?
