Street Fighter IV Joins Country Music On The Kimbo Slice Marketing Machine
May 29, 2008
It’s been less than a year since Kimbo Slice made the transition from backyard pit fighter to pro MMA combatant. Since then he’s kicked the shit out of one tomato can and a has been, but that’s enough to make him marketing gold. Earlier this month Slice presented at the Academy of Country Music Awards. This week he’s on the cover of ESPN the Magazine. And now he’s getting used to market Street Fighter IV.
Capcom will air their first commercial for the latest SF sequel new title during the broadcast of the Pro Elite fights this Saturday on CBS. Granted Kimbo didn’t out and out endorse country music beyond wearing a cowboy hat. And, as far as we know, Capcom isn’t forking any money over to him directly. But damn if this isn’t the American Dream for the new generation. We wouldn’t be surprised if he pops up in an ad for one of the presidential candidates. It might be a bad look for Slice seeing as all three candidates already tapped the WWE to stump for votes. No word on what the commercial will reveal about the actual game. But the latest issue of Famitsu has posted some (bad) scans of two new bad guys, Rufus and, the final boss for the game, Seth.
