EA Tiburon’s Ryan Ferwerda Talks Madden 09, Favre-Love, Adaptability

August 13, 2008

He didn’t have a cheesehead on hand during the Madden 20th Anniversary party but, EA development manager Ryan Ferwerda, did take some time to talk about the game. Since the interview took place prior to Favregate I didn’t cover the Jets trade. But Ferwerda did express a deep sentiment for all things Brett and admitted to letting Byron Leftwich chisel a few extra speed points out of the development team.

Tweaks, Updates And Curses, EA’s Chris Erb Talks Madden 09

August 12, 2008

madden_favre Tweaks, Updates And Curses, EA’s Chris Erb Talks Madden 09
Favregate has come to a conclusion with Brett Favre throwing dead pigs for the New York Jets and EA Sports offering up pre-release DLC in the form of new jacket covers. But what are the reactions from the people who actually created Madden NFL 09? Well besides the suits. Favre and Green Bay’s dirty laundry airing all over television, the new cover athlete’s reputation changed from hardworking everyman to diva, and the rising specter that the Madden Curse hit before the game even went to retail? You can’t pay for that kind of shit. EA Sports Market Director Chris Erb sheds some light on plans for updating the game, the possibility of a 10-megaton Curse, how the internal team reacted to Favregate and the fact they were kind of banking on Brett not hanging up the cleats. Ray Lewis Talks Madden 09, Lobbies For Devin Hester Cover

August 11, 2008

ray_lewis Ray Lewis Talks Madden 09, Lobbies For Devin Hester Cover
Balitmore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis took some time to answer a few questions at the Madden NFL 09 launch party at NYC club touch back in June. At the time of the interview Favregate ‘08 had yet to even develop into a pimple much less the lanced boil it is today. But I did ask Lewis about a uniform change for Favre’s Madden cover. Instead of asking about the Jets though, his choices were Brett in his Packer uniform and draft day Brett Favre rocking a sweet pair of jorts. Check out Lewis making a case for a Devin Hester cover, talking trash on the field and playing Madden after the jump. Apologies in advance to Luis Castillo for not naming him as the only other defensive player to get his own Madden cover. In my defense, Ray Lewis didn’t seem to know about it either. Brett Favre Trade Turns New Madden Cover Into Collector’s Item

August 07, 2008

jetbrett_hat Brett Favre Trade Turns New Madden Cover Into Collectors Item
Brett Favre’s new Madden 09 cover isn’t exactly going to match up with his new Jets jersey. Last night Favre signed on to the Jets roster and at least two chances to face off against the Patriots. IGN has reported that EA won’t try to bust out new covers for Madden 09 which hits shelves on Monday. And there’s no reason they should try. The cover disparity will only add to the publicity bonfire EA has gotten out of the Brett Favre soap opera and it means they have already printed a couple million collector’s items. Das Gamer a Favre comeback based on an interview he did with GameTap back in May. OK, it wasn’t so much a prediction as a “maybe.” So I’ll have to go ahead and make an actual prognostication. When Favre gets folded in half by Vince Wilfork and Richard Seymour and (sadly) ends his career it will prove that Ray Lewis and Shaun Alexander were wrong about the Madden Curse.

Sony Announces New PSP Color For Madden 09

May 21, 2008

psp-favre Sony Announces New PSP Color For Madden 09
Brett Favre has retired from pro football. But, thanks to his upcoming cover for Madden 09, he will remain front and center in the public eye when August rolls around. Sony announced a Madden NFL 09 PSP bundle that will include a copy of the game, an exclusive metallic blue PSP, a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and some other assorted stuff. We’re guessing the pic of Favre lounging around in a pair of pegged jorts waiting for the phone to ring during the ‘92 draft probably won’t get included. But it should.

Brett Favre Might Not Retire?

May 02, 2008

Brett
In an interview posted on GameTap, Brett Favre, the coverboy for Madden 09 sorta kinda hinted at the possibility of a comeback. After 17 years in the league, three MVP awards and a Super Bowl ring the guy proved he was pretty much indestructible. How could he not give the Madden curse a shot at ending his career?
