Brit developer Codemasters has released some pre-alpha shots of their next auto title in the pipe, FUEL. Due sometime in 2009 the game is a massive off-road racer that seems to take a stand on environmental issues. I just can’t tell which side they are on. FUEL is set in an alternate reality where climate change has ravaged the earth. On the up side you get go four wheelin’ wherever you fucking want! After a long day out in the sand piles head back to the garage to drink some Coors out of polar bear skulls with Al Gore. Check the full gallery after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

damnation The Civil War Era Goes Steampunk In Damnation
Codemasters has released the debut trailer for Damnation, the new third person shooter / platformer by developer Blue Omega. Gamers play as Hamilton Rourke a resistance fighter and veteran of “the Great War,” a decades long West versus East kind of thing.

The game started out as a mod in the Make Something Unreal competition, transitioned into a movie script by Michael Urbanski at Blue Omega, and then made it’s way back into development as a feature build. Check the trailer after the jump for a look at dark armies wearing bowler hats, train track mounted cannons, wraiths with cavalry swords and some serious vertical combat. The only thing it’s missing is a shot of a cyborg Ulysses S. Grant. Read the rest of this entry »

One of Lindop’s comments sum up the experience of watching the trailer, “We wanted to portray warfare from the ground up and capture the sheer scale of modern ordinance.” In other words, you’re going to blow shit up. Wafer showed off models of vehicles before and after a missile strike to demonstrate the progressive deformation of objects. Also, when a vehicle goes down it won’t simply disappear. “When you blow stuff up,” said Wafer, “It stays blown up.” Read the rest of this entry »

The game doesn’t ship till June 3, but GRID is looking like a title that will keep race fans busy this summer.
