Das Gamer Talks Gears of War 2 With Lester Speight, Voice Of Augustus Cole

You probably don’t know the name Lester Speight. But if you played Gears of War, you can’t forget the voice. Speight, who also goes by the Mighty Rasta, showed up on the pop culture radar when he starred in Reebok’s Super Bowl ads as Terrible Terry Tate, Office Linebacker. Speight credits the ad spots for his role as the voice of Augustus Cole in Gears of War and Gears of War 2. But Speight deserves a little bit more than that from every Gearhead out there. According to Epic design directorCliff Bleszinski, the concept for the Gears of War spawned from watching Terry Tate scream, “Here comes the Pain Train!” before dropping the hammer on a co-worker. “We were sitting in the office watching those videos and just thought,” says Bleszinski, “I want to go to war with that guy.” Check the un-censored full Terry Tate video posted after the jump for your viewing pleasure.

The PC version of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 hits shelves today, and with it comes the first chance for gamers to see mixed martial artist Gina Carano’s turn as Natasha firsthand. Das Gamer caught up with Carano at EA’s recent press event in New York City shortly after her last fight taking down Kelly Kobold. New York Jets Center Nick Mangold Confesses His Biggest GTA IV Sin

During the pre-season workouts Das Gamer got through the gates of the Jets training facility at Hofstra University and talked games with center Nick Mangold. As it turns out he seems to harbor a small amount of shame regarding GTA IV. The interview went down before the roster change that resulted in Brett Favre’s hands getting jammed into his crotch. Otherwise the question, “Can you tell the difference between Chad’s and Brett’s knuckles?” would definitely have been posed. Check out what he had to say.

EA Tiburon’s Ryan Ferwerda Talks Madden 09, Favre-Love, Adaptability

He didn’t have a cheesehead on hand during the Madden 20th Anniversary party but, EA development manager Ryan Ferwerda, did take some time to talk about the game. Since the interview took place prior to Favregate I didn’t cover the Jets trade. But Ferwerda did express a deep sentiment for all things Brett and admitted to letting Byron Leftwich chisel a few extra speed points out of the development team.
