Game Trailer | Martial Arts Capoeira

New Martial Arts: Capoeira Vid Features Tarantula vs Earthquake Styles, We Think

November 11, 2008

martialarts_capoeira New Martial Arts: Capoeira Vid Features Tarantula vs Earthquake Styles, We Think
Graffiti Entertainment released a new video for Martial Arts: Capoeira, their new fighting title for the Wii, PC, PS2, PSP and the DS. It’s billed as a match between Tarantula and Earthquake, which could very well just be the names of the characters but I really hope it’s their style of capoeira. Since their move sets look identical, it’s kind of tough to tell who wins. Hopefully the game will feature different capoeria systems (if they even exist), otherwise this is going to turn into the Eddy Gordo from Tekken show. As the motion capture for the game was performed by one capoeira school in Italy (of all places) the spice that is other types of ginga seems like a longshot. What’s the ginga you ask? Why that’s the rhythmic dance that is the foundation of all capoeira attacks. Goddamit, did you learn nothing from watching Band of the Hand?

Tekken 6 Development Team Talk Some Iron Fist

November 05, 2008

tekken_6 Tekken 6 Development Team Talk Some Iron Fist
Gametrailers has a fairly long interview with the Tekken 6 dev team as well as some video from the game. Whoever is running the show asks a lot of leading questions in favor of the Xbox 360. It seems like the guys don’t rise to the bait but you can’t get a good feel for their reactions since the producers used Iron Chef-style voiceovers for the interview to translate from Japanese. Whoever is reading the translations doesn’t bring the same joie de vivre that the actors used to give to Chairman Kaga’s judges. Just sayin’. Hit the jump for the video.

Get The Locust Side Of The Story In The Gears Of War 2 Opening Cinematic

November 04, 2008

brumak_gears_of_war_2 Get The Locust Side Of The Story In The Gears Of War 2 Opening Cinematic
The opening reel from Gears of War 2 features a female British-esque voiceover discussing the plight of the human race in the game. About halfway through the clip it finally dawns on you that the voice is speaking from the perspective of the Locust. Then the bitch starts to sound a little like Dr. Evil. She doesn’t delve into “meat helmets” or “summers in Rangoon.” But you know she wants to. Anyone else hoping there’s a hyper-intelligent brumak running the Locust? Hit the jump for the video.

mirrorsedge New Mirrors Edge Video Has Gamers Looking In The Wrong Place
The latest game trailer form Mirror’s Edge shows the main character, Faith, chasing an NPC through the the city. It gives you a good idea of the “oh shit, I’m going to puke” moments in the game. But during my hands on with the title at EA’s New York City press day, the one place you need to pay the most attention while busting out Matrix-level parkour is down. If you don’t watch your feet, you don’t stand a chance. Hit the jump to check out the video.

mk-chris-on-chris New Mortal Kombat Trailer Shows Off Some Chris Vs. Chris Action
The latest trailer from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe shows off Rayden going toe-to-toe with Superman. It actually kicks off with Batman versus Sub-Zero but “Christian Bale vs Francois Petit action” (Sub-Zero in 1995’s Mortal Kombat) just doesn’t sound like headline material. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

October 29, 2008

guitar_hero_world_tour Tool Guitarist Sheepishly Admits To Guitar Hero Thumb Blister, Invites Apocalypse
In the new launch trailer for Guitar Hero World Tour, Adam Jones the lead guitarist for Tool, admits to getting a thumb blister playing Guitar Hero World Tour. That’s a wrap, people. The four horseman of the apocalypse are saddling up. Hopefully one of them looks like Ted Nugent (pictured). Hit the jump to watch the trailer which also includes Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith (who could pass for Will Ferrell’s clone) stating that Guitar Hero has revitalized the music industry and Sting referring to how he never realized tantric tantric sex could get better until he engaged in the practice while performing Nugent’s “Stranglehold.” Well, only one of those statements is true.
