Why Is The Halo Uprising Comic Mini Series Taking Over A Year To Finish?

Issue three of Marvel’s four-part Halo Uprising comic by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Alex Maleev hit shelves last week. Normally this would not constitute news. But it’s been nine months since issue two hit stands and nearly a year since the mini-series debuted last September. On top of that, no one is talking about why it’s going to take over a year to punch out four issues.
An email to Bendis got no response. Maleev responded via email but only to say that he could not comment on the current situation. Marvel’s internal PR squad reported that they “we’re not the appropriate parties to comment for this.” Microsoft PR did not respond to emails about the series. Things are getting awful chilly in licensed comic book land.
It’s within the realm of possibilities that production has been slow due to Marvel putting too much of a load on their creative team. But even with the current demand for Bendis scripts and Maleev art it’s unlikely that the creators are the ones holding the show.
