Seven Features That Should Show Up In The New Beatles Game

Yesterday Apple Corp (the company that holds the rights to the Beatles musical catalog), MTV Games and Harmonix held a press conference to announce a new, standalone game featuring the Beatles’ music that will hit during holiday 2009. It’s assumed that the game will include elements from the Rock Band franchise but concrete details were fairly scarce. The execs on the call said that the game will encompass the entire Beatles career and offer 45 original songs. They used phrases like “a celebration of [the Beatle's] legacy,” “a new exploration of their music,” and “the game is in development, we can’t answer questions about what it will be like a year from now.” Well shit guys, let us help you out. Rock Band 2 Wants Your Back To School Money

Harmonix announced today that Rock Band 2, the inevitable sequel to the obscenely successful music game, will be coming to the Xbox 360 in September. A PS3 version is rumored to be coming later in the year, while a Wii release is anyone’s guess (the poor bastards just got the first Rock Band last week).

IGN interviewed lead designer Dan Teasdale to get some more info on the release, but he wouldn’t reveal too many details other than everything will be bigger, better and smarter than the original. Expect improved instruments (like a wireless guitar for the 360), more detailed character customization, and new modes, including an easier way to play guitar and sing at the same time. Disturbed Drops Some Free Metal On Rock Band

Pre-order Indestructible, the new album from Disturbed, on BestBuy.com and you’ll get a redemption code for two tracks from the album, “Inside the Fire” and “Perfect Insanity,” through Xbox Live to play on Rock Band. Mötley Crüe pulled a similar stunt when they dropped their newest single on Rock Band to try and create some buzz. It kind of raises the question, how many people actually buy CDs anymore? If you need a reason to go old school and purchase a hard copy of your music, David Draiman and the guys in the band rolled through Kuwait (pic above) to give the soldiers some support last March. Order up some magnetic lip piercings to go with your new tracks and get down with the sickness.
