Take A Look At Resistance 2’s Co-Op Play

October 27, 2008

resistance2_coop1 Take A Look At Resistance 2s Co-Op Play
During my hands on with Sony’s Resistance 2 at the end of the summer I got a new appreciation for the level of teamwork in the game’s co-op mode. Before I could rip into the level with seven other players the developers on hand from Insomniac really started to hammer home the need for a couple of medics to fill out the squad. “Seriously, guys, I’ll play a medic. But we need one more or we’re toast,” was about what I recall hearing. Heed those words. Without a decent spread of classes in co-op mode (you can choose from medic, frontline soldier, and special ops) you’re dog food. The medics handle the healing, the soldiers serve as the tanks up front and the spec ops guys actually drop ammo for teammates. It’s the circle of life, bitches. Hit the jump and get a look.

Over the past three months, Insomniac President and CEO Ted Price has been showcasing a variety of gameplay elements from this fall’s PlayStation 3 sequel, Resistance 2. For those who didn’t play the original, this first-person shooter is set in an alternate history in which World War II never happened. Instead, the world was invaded by the Chimera, deadly aliens who are hell-bent on destroying the world.

While the first game focused on action across the pond in the United Kingdom, Insomniac has brought the battle home in Resistance 2, and set its sites on 1950s Americana. You hear that Norman Rockwell? You, my friend, are royally fucked. Hit the jump for the full interview. Read the rest of this entry »

They even watermarked them, as you can see, just in case anyone ran a story and forgot to mention the name of the game. The PS3 exclusive will once again pit you, as Nathan Hale, against the Chimeran horde, only this time on American soil. Make sure to order a T-shirt with a flag and a slogan like, “These Colors Don’t Run” or, “I voted for Nader.” The game will apparently have a game specific social network feature to accompany it on MyResistance.net. Which…is weird. But the real crowd pleaser will be the 60-man multiplayer. Resistance 2 hits this fall.
