According to Konami’s Hideo Kojima, Solid Snake is hanging up his guns. Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the last rodeo for the one-man army and star of the 20-year old Metal Gear franchise. It’s about damn time. Look at the poor bastard. He’s a grey-mulleted geriatric who still prances around in a Batman suit, only no weird nipples.

We always thought there was something familiar about the dude on the cover of Metal Gear for the NES. Turns out Konami pretty much lifted the image direct from movie stills of Michael Biehn from Terminator. If you’ve got 21 minutes to kill and a passing interest in the lineage behind Metal Gear 4: Guns of the Patriots the clip is loaded up with some interesting MG trivia from the first two titles in the franchise.
