thebeatles Seven Features That Should Show Up In The New Beatles Game
Yesterday Apple Corp (the company that holds the rights to the Beatles musical catalog), MTV Games and Harmonix held a press conference to announce a new, standalone game featuring the Beatles’ music that will hit during holiday 2009. It’s assumed that the game will include elements from the Rock Band franchise but concrete details were fairly scarce. The execs on the call said that the game will encompass the entire Beatles career and offer 45 original songs. They used phrases like “a celebration of [the Beatle's] legacy,” “a new exploration of their music,” and “the game is in development, we can’t answer questions about what it will be like a year from now.” Well shit guys, let us help you out. Rock Band 2 AC/DC Live Track Pack Set List Announced

September 30, 2008

acdc_rockband2 Rock Band 2 AC/DC Live Track Pack Set List AnnouncedAC/DC debuted their first track on a rhythm game when “Let There Be Rock” made it onto the disc in Rock Band 2. Today MTV Games/EA announced the line up for the full-blown AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack hitting November 2 on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2. The Wii version rolls out two weeks later.

Oddly enough the Australia/New Zealand markets are getting the boondini and won’t see the game released until December. The Track Pack contains 18 tracks, all performed live, and will run gamers $40 on current gen systems. PS2 jockeys will get it for $30. The Pack will trail the release of AC/DC’s first new album in eight years, Black Ice, which will only be available at your local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club. In other words, the new album is about to get crushed by the re-release of live songs on Rock Band 2. It’s going to get ugly.

Hit the jump for the full, stripper-friendly track list.

September 24, 2008

rock_band_2 Das Review: Rock Band 2
Last year’s Harmonix-developed Rock Band stole the spotlight from Guitar Hero (though not in terms of sales) as the unofficial sequel to the GH series. With drums, a mic, and pretty awesome team play—as long as your apartment floor plan accommodated an arsenal of plastic instruments in the middle of your living room—what wasn’t to like? Rock Band 2 Wants Your Back To School Money

June 30, 2008

Harmonix announced today that Rock Band 2, the inevitable sequel to the obscenely successful music game, will be coming to the Xbox 360 in September. A PS3 version is rumored to be coming later in the year, while a Wii release is anyone’s guess (the poor bastards just got the first Rock Band last week).

IGN interviewed lead designer Dan Teasdale to get some more info on the release, but he wouldn’t reveal too many details other than everything will be bigger, better and smarter than the original. Expect improved instruments (like a wireless guitar for the 360), more detailed character customization, and new modes, including an easier way to play guitar and sing at the same time. And of course, all the downloadable content from RB1 will be compatible with the new version. Hit the jump for some screenshots and a look at the new guitar.
