Games Without Boxes Reviews Siren: Blood Curse

siren01 Games Without Boxes Reviews Siren: Blood Curse
Siren: Blood Curse, the PS3’s exclusive downloadable rural Japanese freakout, arrives already carved to bits, twelve pieces to be exact. In this case we’re talking about episodic content (between Siren and Dexter, is this the new shotgun?). Siren feels like a totally new style of game experience, more like a horror TV series and you’ll have to pay for the experience. A four-episode pack goes for nearly fifteen bucks a pop or forty bucks for the whole thing. The pricing definitely has a twinge of an adversarial feel. Sony can get into your wallet for an extra $25 bones if you go the a la carte route. When you’re toying with making the purchase keep in mind this is a sequential episodic storyline, not twelve separate games. Read the rest of this entry »

resistance2_03 Insomniac Prez Ted Price And Resistance 2 Give The 1950s A Swift Kick In The Nuts
Over the past three months, Insomniac President and CEO Ted Price has been showcasing a variety of gameplay elements from this fall’s PlayStation 3 sequel, Resistance 2. For those who didn’t play the original, this first-person shooter is set in an alternate history in which World War II never happened. Instead, the world was invaded by the Chimera, deadly aliens who are hell-bent on destroying the world.

While the first game focused on action across the pond in the United Kingdom, Insomniac has brought the battle home in Resistance 2, and set its sites on 1950s Americana. You hear that Norman Rockwell? You, my friend, are royally fucked. Hit the jump for the full interview. Read the rest of this entry »

In a video interview with Wall Street Journal tech wonk, Walt Mossberg, Howard Stringer, Lord of Blu-ray and the head of Sony, admitted that his crowd came close to sticking a fork in the PS3. Specifically Stringer said the PS3 was, “on life support for a while.” To his credit, Stringer speaks openly on everything from battling Apple’s iPod to taking Mossberg’s barbs about the “crapplets” Sony loads onto their line of PCs. The only thing he doesn’t seem to respond to is the walk out music by The Vapors, “Turning Japanese.” Read the rest of this entry »

They even watermarked them, as you can see, just in case anyone ran a story and forgot to mention the name of the game. The PS3 exclusive will once again pit you, as Nathan Hale, against the Chimeran horde, only this time on American soil. Make sure to order a T-shirt with a flag and a slogan like, “These Colors Don’t Run” or, “I voted for Nader.” The game will apparently have a game specific social network feature to accompany it on MyResistance.net. Which…is weird. But the real crowd pleaser will be the 60-man multiplayer. Resistance 2 hits this fall.

The country that gave us PEZ candy dispensers and a governor with the biggest pecs in the history of US state governments has thrown a new Vienna sausage out into the world. The Austrian wing of Sony’s ad agency TBWA\Wien created this ad of a naked dude with a thumb where his junk should be and the tag line, “Playboy forever.” Well, at least they know they’re getting their money’s worth as far as the Photoshop is concerned.
