Yesterday Apple Corp (the company that holds the rights to the Beatles musical catalog), MTV Games and Harmonix held a press conference to announce a new, standalone game featuring the Beatles’ music that will hit during holiday 2009. It’s assumed that the game will include elements from the Rock Band franchise but concrete details were fairly scarce. The execs on the call said that the game will encompass the entire Beatles career and offer 45 original songs. They used phrases like “a celebration of [the Beatle's] legacy,” “a new exploration of their music,” and “the game is in development, we can’t answer questions about what it will be like a year from now.” Well shit guys, let us help you out. Meet the latest entree in the the rhythm game cold war, the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller, Premiere Edition. Licensed by Activision, the axe was designed specifically for use with Guitar Hero, bringing balance to the universe. Up to this point, if you wanted to drop more than two bills on a rhythm peripheral, you had to go for Rock Band’s Ion Drum Rocker.
