Rock Band 2 AC/DC Live Track Pack Set List Announced

September 30, 2008

acdc_rockband2 Rock Band 2 AC/DC Live Track Pack Set List AnnouncedAC/DC debuted their first track on a rhythm game when “Let There Be Rock” made it onto the disc in Rock Band 2. Today MTV Games/EA announced the line up for the full-blown AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack hitting November 2 on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2. The Wii version rolls out two weeks later.

Oddly enough the Australia/New Zealand markets are getting the boondini and won’t see the game released until December. The Track Pack contains 18 tracks, all performed live, and will run gamers $40 on current gen systems. PS2 jockeys will get it for $30. The Pack will trail the release of AC/DC’s first new album in eight years, Black Ice, which will only be available at your local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club. In other words, the new album is about to get crushed by the re-release of live songs on Rock Band 2. It’s going to get ugly.

Hit the jump for the full, stripper-friendly track list.

Mad Catz To Deliver Rock Band 2 Cymbals “Soon”

September 16, 2008

madcatz_cymbal_pack Mad Catz To Deliver Rock Band 2 Cymbals Soon
Are you one of those Rock Band 2 gaming paupers that can’t spring three bills for the Ion Drum Rocker? Have no fear. Mad Catz will help you close the gap between the standard issue drum kit and Ion’s super-premium set with their add-on cymbals. Forty bucks gets the triple set of cymbals, $30 buys you the double set and $20 bucks will snag you a single wannabe Zildjan. It will also make you look like you’re really into jazz. Now if only someone had the balls to pull the trigger on a double-kick drum set. No word on when the peripherals hit shelves. Considering Mad Catz is already playing catch up, it should be soon.

rockband2 Mark Burnett Wants To Make Faux Rock A Reality
While Brett Ratner has been busy issuing claims that he named Guitar Hero: World Tour and that he’d like to make a Guitar Hero movie adaptation, reality show producer Mark Burnett has been working on a new show featuring Rock Band 2. And, according to a report on Variey, the show is looking for recruits. The news isn’t a total shocker when you think about it, but this lowers the bar for reality television to somewhere between the basement and whale shit. Read the rest of this entry »

Rock Band 2 Introduces New Albums As Well As Chicken, Mad Max

August 28, 2008

rockband2 Rock Band 2 Introduces New Albums As Well As Chicken, Mad MaxUp to now I really didn’t have an inclination to buy Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour or anything that would require an input device other than a controller with two sticks or Wiimote/Nunchuk to play.

But the new slate of full length albums announced for Rock Band 2 has me thinking about it for the first time. According to a post on EW, gamers will get to hack away at Foo Fighters‘ “Colour and the Shape,” Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ “Blood Sugar Sex Magik,” Janes Addiction’s “Nothing’s Shocking,” Megadeth’s “Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying,” Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Texas Flood” and a special No Doubt compilation of hits. Granted there’s something inherently wrong with anyone mimicking Stevie Ray Vaughn with a plastic guitar but it’s the closest most people will get to sounding like him. Read the rest of this entry »

Rock Band 2 Wants Your Back To School Money

June 30, 2008

Harmonix announced today that Rock Band 2, the inevitable sequel to the obscenely successful music game, will be coming to the Xbox 360 in September. A PS3 version is rumored to be coming later in the year, while a Wii release is anyone’s guess (the poor bastards just got the first Rock Band last week).

IGN interviewed lead designer Dan Teasdale to get some more info on the release, but he wouldn’t reveal too many details other than everything will be bigger, better and smarter than the original. Expect improved instruments (like a wireless guitar for the 360), more detailed character customization, and new modes, including an easier way to play guitar and sing at the same time. And of course, all the downloadable content from RB1 will be compatible with the new version. Hit the jump for some screenshots and a look at the new guitar.
