Video games have played a role in politics for decades. But this year the industry seems to have transitioned from the perennial target of Grand Theft Auto witch hunts to political force in the 2008 presidential election. Game players, game developers, publishers and even the politicians have used the medium to express their views, recruit voters, raise money and generally stir some shit up. Sarah Palin Continues To Trounce Joe Biden As Veep Softball Target

PwnorDie has put together some quailty Photoshop work, inserting VP-hopeful Sarah Palin into a couple of video games. (The timing dovetails nicely with the Matt Hazard video.) John McCain’s running mate continues to reign as an easier target than Joe Biden when it comes to satire. Her streak should continue until the Internets or someone on Saturday Night Live can figure out a way to work Biden’s racist comments on Barack Obama, his opponent at the time, or even his own constituents into some kind of witty, playful commentary suitable for NBC. It probably wouldn’t hurt Palin’s image if she dropped the go-to wink debate technique and stepped up her game in dealing with the press. The First Sarah Palin-Based Game Hits The Net…And It Sucks

Scottish software development crew T-Enterprise posted up a Flash game featuring the Republican vice prez nominee Sarah Palin. Gamers play as a polar bear running around on its hind legs trying to dynamite oil wells while dodging tank driving Palins. The controls and actual gameplay are fairly weak, even for a Flash title. But, worse still, the game really flies in the face of logic. Public records of Palin suggest that when Palin wants to get her Alaskan-mammal kill on she goes after moose.
