While Star Wars has been a haven for geeks for decades, LucasArts is serving up a no-holds-barred action experience with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed that should satisfy all fans, even the ones who think Yoda has always been a CGI effect. The new game opens up with players slapping on the helmet of Darth Vader and throwing out a couple of Jedi choke checks. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is also coming out for Nintendo’s ubiquitous Wii console, which opened up a whole new interactive aspect to the development team at Krome Studios. “The biggest challenge for us was to take this massive game and make the lightsaber and all of the Force powers work as well as we could on the Wii,” said Dan Wassen, producer of the Wii game. Gamers get a chance to walk the Dark Side as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice (what evil apprentice isn’t under wraps?). The storyline fills the gap in the movie series between Revenge of the Sith (the last one Lucas rolled out) and A New Hope, aka the first, and arguably the best, Star Wars flick to hit the silver screen.
