G4TV Investigates The Lack Of Controversy Around GTA IV

No one really got their panties in a wad over the latest iteration of Grand Theft Auto. Well, if you don’t count the Thai government. Adam Sessler and the X-Play crew spoke to a couple of sources, including Cheryl Olson, co-author of Grand Theft Childhood, that look like they could easily fit into the “outraged mom demographic” yet offer some fairly sound reasoning as to why GTA IV came and went without much scandal. Check out one of Will Wright’s one minute vids and Niko Bellic’s world sounds a lot less violent than the Care Bears and far less offensive than life in an anthill. Check the video after the jump. SETI Founder Uses Spore, Necktie To Call BS On Human Evolution

I figured this would be the only chance I would ever get to work the High Evolutionary into a post so in goes the above pic courtesy of Marvel. There is a tie in between Will Wright’s latest title and the Marvel B-squad villain-geneticist. SETI founder and noted astrophysicist Frank Drake was on hand at the launch party for Spore where he gave a short speech and presented his version of the Super Sapien, saying that humans could still use a little more time in the evolutionary oven.

According to Drake we need another set of arms, a second mouth exclusively for chowing down and an eye on the back of our heads. The best part of it all is a shot of Drake showing off the Super Sapien on his tie. Will Wright Dusts Off Old Comments Comparing The Sims To Herpes

Before taking the stage for his first-ever Comic-Con International keynote address, Spore creator Will Wright sat down to talk about video games. It had been a fairly long week for Wright, coming off E3 and delivering a presentation that compared the users of the Spore Creature Editor to 38% God, discussed his partnership with SETI and accused the chemistry sets of today for being too nerf. Out of context these kinds of elements sound more like a Dr. Evil monologue than one of the brighter minds in games business today.

Spore Shows Off New Screens, Hints At Sacrifice Of Meat To Wooden Gods

EA released some new screens of Will Wright’s long awaited magnum opus of all Sims. The accompanying press release doesn’t mention anything about offering up sacrifices to wooden totems with cuts of raw meat as the above pic suggests. But it does point out gameplay details like hunting and gathering, animal husbandry, and primitive warfare on creatures that don’t look like your creatures.
