The Sounds Of Victory In SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Confrontation
October 13, 2008
What kind of reaction do you get from the SEALs themselves?
Mark Rogers: They love it. SEALs themselves, just as a personality type, are very different. When they see an issue they have a personality type to take action and to change the condition by action. If there’s a problem they can solve it through physical action. They are very, very clever individuals. They have incredible spatial recognition. They move through very dangerous areas, filled with dangerous items and weapons, while coordinating as a team. You have to be very aware of the group. Because of all that they have to be very, very balanced individuals. Before I started working with them I really had no idea what those sort of people would be like but I was very amazed at how balanced and adjusted they are.
Then the real question is, would you go out drinking with them?
Mark Rogers: Indeed. And I have on many occasions. It was great. One of the more bizarre moments I suppose, was in Salt Lake City. I was there for a photo shoot for the box cover. Again it’s all about the authenticity, how they hold a weapon, the way they move through the environment. It’s not something you’ll get with a bunch of models. I went to see the movie 300 with a couple of SEALs. There I was, in the theater with a bunch of SEALs surrounded by Mormons. They’re great, they’re great people.
Did you ever get them to show you any lethal hand to hand techniques just to have in the quiver?
Mark Rogers: Yes. But only for the game. If you’re looking at knife attacks you essentially want to know how it’s done correctly so you can express them in the title.
Was there anything you found particularly surprising about their techniques?
Mark Rogers: The veracity of them was quite surprising. The kind of like…the how helpless you are essentially when they perform them on you. It is a very effective thing that they do.
