Tiger Woods Joins Forces With Man-Dolphin To Launch PGA Tour 09
August 28, 2008
Last night at midtown club Strata Metronome, EA Sports threw its Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 VIP Tee Off party, featuring hands-on looks at Tiger Woods 09 for the 360 and Wii (in case people hadn’t already played it in the last two days), spinnin’ music from DJ Roc Raida, and a whole lot of free drinks. The prospect of checking out the launch for the latest edition to EA’s golf franchise, and meeting Woods, attracted an eclectic mix of celebs. Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith, actor Anthony Anderson, actor Michael Stobe, Heatherette clothing designer Richie Rich, America’s golden boy slash dolphin spawn, Michael Phelps, and of course Tiger Woods were all in the house. The pic above represents the two most dominant athletes to ever compete in their respective sports. You can almost imagine the conversation they had.
Michael Phelps: Dude! You’re like the best on land and I’m the best in the water. If we could get one guy who could fly we’d be so boss! NAVY SEALS!
Tiger Woods: Oh, right you’re…you’re the guy from the Water Cube. What do get for winning?
Michael Phelps: Whooo! Eight golds baby! There’s like eight grams of gold wrapped around a sliver disc. I’m the best of the best. NAAA-VY SEALS!
Tiger Woods: So, every four years you make some headlines and pick up some metal discs and a few sponsorship deals?
Michael Phelps: And I get to call Mark Spitz my bitch! Four more years of swimming laps and I get to do it all over again.
Tiger Woods: So you don’t get a chance to win $20 million a year in prize money before the endorsement money comes in?
Michael Phelps: We’re going to London, baby!
Tiger Woods: Did you ignore any warnings that you picked the wrong sport to dominate or is that realization dawning on you at this very moment? Wow, it’s just hitting you now. This kind of shit needs to get photographed.
Michael Phelps: [Stunned silence accompanied by the muffled gurgling of tears coming out of his blowhole]
While Woods walked in on his special “green carpet,” and stayed late, holed up in his VIP area. The celebs came early, and left early too—by 9ish they weren’t on the scene. But, amongst the sushi and appetizer chicken ka-thingys, the other star of the show, the Xbox 360 and Wii versions of Tiger, were available for play between drinks.
