Velvet Assassin Producer Stephan Beier Likes To Stab Nazis In The Crotch
August 26, 2008
And who the hell doesn’t? In fact, I challenge you to find a Nazi crotch out there that doesn’t need a good stabbing. Replay Studio’s Stephan Beier, producer on Velvet Assassin, talks about his favorite close kill methods, making a game that eschews combat for stealth and more after the jump.
If you need a little background on Velvet Assassin, gamers take the role of Violette Summer, a female spy and saboteur working to defeat the Nazis. The character is based on Violette Szabo, a French resistance fighter from Paris who was captured and ultimately executed by the Axis in 1945. Replay Studios has gone to great lengths to accurately depict the World War II era from the weaponry and uniforms to local architecture.
Replay and Gamecock, the publisher for Velvet Assassin, are even marketing the game with scavenger hunts for real gold bars billed as “Nazi gold.” Two gold bars have been found, one in London and one in Fredericksburg, Texas, a town known for its German roots and its proximity to Gamecock’s base in Austin. For more info on the gold head over to ViolettesDream.com for clues.
